Day 6: Another Day, Another Adventure

Howdy there! Today was a fantastic day for all things Apogee, and we can’t wait to show you the photographic evidence. From surfing to glacier trekking, day 6 was an epic display of global adventuring. These pictures are going to make you smile, laugh, cry (of joy), and maybe even inspire you to take on some spontaneous travels of your own. Today might have had some of the greatest Apo pictures to date!

Skip to a Specific Trip: MCJ, CI, NEMCANEMCB, CRMGSA, CS, MCCEDEX, VM,  CRLSCRMCCMCA, CMCB, AKMC, NWXA, NWXB, PCA, PCBAX, PMC, ECC1, ECC2, ACC

Maine Coast Junior (MCJ)

MCJ spent their last full day together doing some rockin’ service work at a local land trust in Midcoast Maine! After putting in some seriously fun hours on nature restoration projects, they cooked up a delicious final dinner and closed the night with their best A’s and P’s yet.

Cape Cod & the Islands (CI)

Our CI crew took a ferry from Nantucket to Hyannis this morning, where they continued on their mission to find the best beaches in Massachusetts. They spent the rest of the afternoon biking and exploring before cozying up at their new camp!

New England Mountains & Coast A (NEMCA)

NEMCA enjoyed their second day of exploring the White Mountains, where they took advantage of some of the greatest day hikes in New England!

Mt. Pierce

New England Mountains & Coast B (NEMCB)

NEMCB spent the day volunteering with the New Hampshire Forest Service, working on maintenance and restoration in the White Mountains. It feels good to give back!

Colorado’s Rocky Mountains (CRM)

Today was CRM’s wonderful, glorious, challenge day! They spent the week working up to today where they completed their biggest hike of the trip! CRM had an insanely great time hiking today. Look at that blue sky! Check out those Colorado views!

Golden State Adventure (GSA)

Our GSA island wayfarers got in some serious exploration as they soaked up the beautiful day on Santa Cruz Island. After completing a hearty day hike, this crew sought out the best ocean views around for some well deserved R & R.

Caribbean Service (CS)

“Everybody was surfing…” Well not everyone, but CS sure was! They were hanging out and hanging ten on the beautiful coast of Puerto Rico, before drying off for some classic Apogee games at night. No, we aren’t crying salty tears of jealousy, you are!

Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)

Productivity AND an abundance of fun? Not possible. Oh, wait, it totally is! Today our writers had a college admissions workshop at Bowdoin, before exploring the beach! Afterwards, they had a relaxing dinner and played some brainstorming games to keep the ideas flowing.

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX)

DEX had a fantastic last day on the water, as they paddled through the coast of Maine that they have come to know and love! Afterwards, they relaxed their bodies and minds with some sunset yoga.

Vermont to Montréal (VM)

Our VM team hit the road early today to avoid the midday heat of rural Vermont! They cruised through picturesque farmland and pedaled their way to a gorgeous campsite that was well worth the long day.

Costa Rica Language & Service (CRLS)

CRLS finished up their last Spanish lessons and headed off to the coast where they enjoyed some gorgeous beaches and wildlife. They spent the afternoon traveling to the coast, where they will spend the next few nights! (Hence the bus pic…)

Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)

CRMC had a great morning in Manuel Antonio National Park where they saw 3 types of monkeys, sloths, birds, and more! Afterwards, they got in some killer beach time. Word is, the monkey wanted some food but forgot to quaker!

California Mountains & Coast (CMCA)

Our California adventures had a lovely day of hiking in Yosemite, where they were soaking up the sun (with lots of sunscreen on, of course). Afterwards, they played some games in camp and got pumped up for their upcoming backcountry adventure!

California Mountains & Coast (CMCB)

CMCB also enjoyed the epic wonders of Yosemite through scenic day hiking and endless exploring. Next stop, backcountry! P.S. thanks Yosemite for having better service today, we missed our CMC faces!

Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)

Wahoo!! We got some killer photos from AKMC, who spent the day continuing on the Williwaw Loop! Looks like they nearly had the place to themselves!

Northwest Explorer (NWXA)

NWXA spent their second night hiking and camping in the backcountry of Olympic National Park, where they reveled in the beauty of one of the most serene and unique places in the world. Backcountry camping is conducive to good times, but, unfortunately, not blog photos. We will keep you updated once they return!

Northwest Explorer (NWXB)

NWXB is back! Well they are in the backcountry to be more exact, and they spent the day hiking in the unbelievably beautiful wilderness near Dagger Lake! Again, the backcountry is not a friend of timely blog photos, but it is definitely a friend of Apogee! We will keep checking in on NWXB as they (hopefully) gain more service!

Pacific Coast (PCA)

PCA completed their first 100 miles today as they pedaled their way to Brookings and we could not be more stoked for them! After hitting the road at 7am, our D & D (Daryl & Domi) group spent the evening chatting and playing games!

Pacific Coast (PCB)

PT Cruiser? More like PCB Cruisers. Ok, not our best pun, but the point is these champs continued to crush the miles, with 20 in the books before 9am! They spent the evening getting in some well-deserved relaxation with lots of games and some yummy cooking!

Alps Explorer (AX)

Ice, Ice, Baby! AX spent the day experiencing the phenomenal beauty of Aletsch Glacier. Between cable cars and good ol’ fashion trekking, this group got some insane views today that they aren’t likely to forget.

Pyrenees Mountains & Coast (PMC)

PMC finished up the Carros de Foc loop today, which means they are getting ready to head to France in the morning! These gorgeous pictures of the high Spanish Pyrenees almost make up for the fact that we can’t be out there with them! Would you look at those mountains?

Europe Coast to Coast 1 (ECC1)

ECC1 completed their longest ride of the trip thus far today, and got to take a couple (nap)ogees on their ferry ride this afternoon! They conquered some insane hills today and stayed fired up with good spirits and good spaghetti!

ECCI flexing next to a sign that warns of a big hill! It was no match for this crew.
What better way to celebrate crossing the Belgium border?

Europe Coast to Coast 2 (ECC2)

ECC2 rode like the wind (subtle shout-out to their windmill pic), and cruised through their second full day of biking!

America Coast to Coast (ACC)

ACC packed in the miles today as they conquered 75 miles of straight hills! They cruised through gorgeous Georgia and had a relaxing night, where they settled in for some games and awesome Apogee traditions. GO ACC!
