Day 22: We CEREAL-sly Are Excited About These Trips

Enrollment for our 2027 trips is open! Check out details on our early bird discount here to save $300 on your 2026 Apogee tuition and peruse our 2027 trip offerings (including a brand new itinerary!).

What’s better than starting your day with a cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast? For us in the office, it’s hearing what everyone on trips get up to! Their pictures fill us full of joy, more than a bowl of breakfast cereal ever could. Breakfast is colloquially known as the most important meal of the day. Read along to see what each group’s cereal match is! As always, follow along on our Instagram for more awesome @apogee.adventures content!

Skip to a Specific Trip: AKMC, CRMCSPR, CSVI, DMCC, ECC, IMC, MCCENEMC, NWMC, PMC

Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)

Cereal: Nature Valley Granola

Things have been going swimmingly for our AKMC’ers, who just finished their backcountry stint and today headed to the coast to do some service and prep for their kayak adventure. After last night’s warm sleep on dry ground they’re ready to get back out there with dry(er) gear. . . before hitting the water again soon! We think this group’s cereal match is Nature Valley Granola. Because what else is better than sprinkling some Nature Valley on your morning oatmeal after a long day on trail or in kayak?!

Colorado’s Rocky Mountains (CRM)

Cereal: Honey Bunches of Oats

Just like Honey Bunches of Oats, these bundles of joy rolled onto their flights today after saying their goodbyes to one another. We hope to see all of them next year on another awesome Apogee adventure and miss them already!

Caribbean Service Puerto Rico (CSPR)

Cereal: Cheerios

Today our CSPR crew joined forces with a local mutual aid organization that supports local Puerto Rican farmers! After lots of planting and shoveling, our crew washed it all off with a nice local swim spot recommended by our service partners. What a wonderful day in the life in PR! We think the cereal that best represents them is Cheerios. Always good to have a hearty breakfast fueling you to make a difference! We can’t wait to hear about what they get up to with Apoyo Mutuo Agricola tomorrow.

Caribbean Service Virgin Islands (CSVI)

Cereal: Rice Krispies

Snap, crackle, pop! A light airy treat feels like a good match for this sunny crew. We’ve been going ballistic in the office over how cool this trip is. Today, the CSVI crew hopped on a short ferry to a small island off the coast of Christiansted called Protestant Cay. They soaked up the sun and enjoyed one last beach day all together. Don’t worry, they won’t be coming home empty handed! Along with all of the silly stories and wonderful memories, our crew went souvenir shopping today to bring a little piece of the island’s joy back with them. Finally, they had a celebratory last feast tonight and are already reminiscing about the amazing trip they had.

Dolomite Mountains & Croatian Coast (DMCC)

Cereal: Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Today, the DMCC gang bused to the trailhead and did a beautiful hiking loop! Then, they dodged some rain to dance and play classic Apogee games like Word Assassin and hacky-sack. Then, they resupplied at the grocery store to stock up for their upcoming trek. Needless to say, the stoke is high! We chose Cinnamon Toast Crunch as the cereal for this squad because its majesty just does justice to the soul-etching beauty of the Dolomites. Take a gander at some of these awesome photos and you’ll get what we mean.

Europe Coast to Coast (ECC)

Cereal: Muesli

Today, the ECC crew crossed the border from Germany into Austria, passing along the picturesque Bodensee, or Lake Constance, in the process. Obviously, we had to choose the classic Austrian Muesli to represent them. Although the start of the day included a nice hill climb, they got to enjoy what it really means to have everything be “downhill from here.” They steadily made their way down long gravely roads until they reached a nice long flat plane into camp. Don’t let the description fool you! These ECCers put in a lot of hard work today against gravity and safely controlling their bikes down the hill before the flat expanse into camp. This totaled around 71.4 miles!!! We just hope they get the chance to enjoy some Austrian Muesli tomorrow before their next ride!

Iceland Mountains & Coast (IMC)

Cereal: Frosted Flakes

It’s hard to resist drawing the comparison between this trip and the cereal, because today, the IMC squad journeyed from Vik to the iconic, glacier-capped Vatnajӧkull National Park. They experienced touching their first glacier and seeing a stunning glacial lake. With their afternoon filled with games and a family reunion at dinner in the land of the ice, we’re choosing Frosted Flakes as this group’s cereal of the day.

Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)

Cereal: Special K

Every essay that these outstanding students wrote during MCCE had a special ingredient that made it pop, so we chose Special K as their cereal. Today, they took some meaningful time to read their essays to one another and go on an incredible hike before having a final dinner and souvenir shop together!

New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)

Cereal: Cap’n Crunch

Land Ho! Today, the NEMC squad set out on their first day hike in the White Mountains! They enjoyed a scrumptious picnic lunch along the ascent, following their three trusty captains (or should we say, leaders?) every step of the way. With today’s adventure complete, the group’s cereal of the day is Cap’n Crunch. Unfortunately, we don’t have a blog photo to share today, but the group is snuggled into camp for the evening and looking forward to another beautiful day on the trail tomorrow!

Northwest Mountains & Coast (NWMC)

Cereal: Froot Loops

The Northwest Mountains & Coast crew has packed so much fun into the start of their adventure in Olympic National Park and was thrilled to take their first ferry ride of the trip! After settling into camp, the group spent the afternoon playing card games, jumping rope, and prepping for tomorrow’s kayaking adventure in the San Juan Islands. Today’s cereal of the day is Froot Loops because every day so far has been full of color!

Pyrenees Mountains & Coast (PMC)

Cereal: Lucky Charms

Sunshine? Check. Crispy pine-scented air? Check. Stellar views? Check? Bunking in a beautiful rifugio? Check. A group of Lucky Charms indeed! Day two on the CDF our PMCers made their way down into the valley of Estany St. Maurici before their big climb up to the Portarro d’Espot. Today gave them a little taste of the days to come on their remaining CDF treks and got them pumped for more. I mean really, how can we blame them with such a fun group and great views?
