Winnie the Pooh said it best: “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” While not every trip is drawing to a close, several enjoy their group dinners tonight before heartfelt goodbyes tomorrow. Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)
Have you ever seen a marmot? How about a hoarding one? Turns out this one’s been hoarding a fair deal of stuff our Alaskan Adventurers got to check out today (see below!). After a fun-filled day of travel and searching for the perfect souvenirs, our crew made their way full circle: back to the campground where they began their trip! After a yummy final dinner our crew reminisces on a trip well spent and all of the silly moments that will stick with them long after departures tomorrow.
Alps Explorer A (AXA)
Imagine waking up to a fresh croissant breakfast sandwich. Well, this team didn’t have to imagine! After a delicious breakfast, our Alps Explorers had contact with the outside world via telephone. You may have even spoken to them! Our Alps team A enjoyed their rest day with phone calls home, volleyball, gelato, and some frolicking in the field while they waited excitedly for their reunion with the Alps Explorer B crew. Tomorrow they continue their journey on the TMB feeling well rested as they bid farewell to their AXB friends!
Alps Explorer B (AXB)
Au revoir France… Ciao Italia! Today AXB officially crossed into the third country of their Alps adventure and the vibes are high! The crew stopped at the border to say a proper goodbye to France with one last lunch of fresh baguette sandwiches. After lunch they finished 18 kilometers of hiking for the day with an extra pep in their step! Once in camp AXB capped off the day with a quesadilla dinner, pumped about the amazing day they had and excited for a rest day tomorrow!
Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)
Surfing mania has hit the Costa Rican crew hard! Everyone caught some waves! After a stellar day of lessons and shredding the gnar the crew enjoyed the rest of their day between the beach and pool. Talk about a perfect day in paradise! We apologize profusely for the lack of actual surfing pictures, but look at these smiling faces enjoying their last day in Uvita! Tomorrow the crew returns to San Jose for their final dinner before departures. Hard to believe just how fast time flies when you’re on an Apogee Adventure!
Dolomite Mountains & Croatian Coast (DMCC)
On their last full day soaking in the sunny Croatian coast, our DMCC crew strapped on their boots for a lovely morning hike where they stopped to swim and relax at two different beaches! That didn’t quite quench this group’s insatiable thirst for Mediterranean water, so in the afternoon they hit up their third beach of the day! To cap off a spectacular last day in Croatia before heading to Venice tomorrow, DMCC headed into Prematura to explore, do some shopping, and say a bittersweet farewell to this leg of their adventure.
Europe Coast to Coast (ECC)
Everyone talks about seeing things from a bird’s eye view, but we think ECC is onto something with their fish eye view pictures from today. After another gorgeous day of biking through the French countryside our ECCers are set to use their feet more than bikes these next two days. Especially for their long anticipated day trip to Paris tomorrow! Tonight our cyclists rest their bike toned legs in preparation for the less (bike) technical walking adventures tomorrow brings.
Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX)
This morning DEX finally took to the sea in their kayaks! They met their guides bright and early and hit the water in style for their overnight ocean adventure. On their way to their island home for the night, they spent time exploring the gorgeous coast of downeast Maine and its abundant marine wildlife. Once they set up camp, they headed back out to explore some more and give back to the community! They worked with Maine Island Trails Association to help with some beach clean ups in the Isle au Haut bay. Tuckered out from a fun day of kayaking, DEX headed back to camp for a yummy dinner, some of their favorite games, and a night under the stars!
Northwest Mountains & Coast (NWMC)
Today our NWMCers visited one of the oldest continuously running public markets in the United States: Pike Place Public Market! Our crew perused artisan booth after booth with a few snack stops in between of course. If you’ve ever tried the Pike Place smoked salmon samples then you know just what a treat our group got today. What a perfect place to search for end of trip souvenirs! After a great day of exploring in Seattle and watching some fish get tossed, our crew had a lovely final dinner before heading back to their campground for one last sleep as a group.
Vermont to Montreal (VM)
Bienvenue à Montréal! With their cycling days behind them, VM spent a celebratory final day in Montreal before they say bittersweet farewells tomorrow and head for home. They didn’t waste a minute of their final day of fun together as they explored the historic city streets, tasted local delicacies (Tim Hortons, specifically) for the first time, and laughed the day away with their new Apogee family. We know by now how much this crew loves a good game… and today was no different as they enjoyed a couple rounds of pool in their hostel before heading out for their final dinner of the trip: Korean BBQ! We’ll miss this boisterous bunch and the incredible energy they bring to VM.
