Maine Coast Junior (MCJA)

And they are off! After arrival day yesterday, these MCJ students have wasted no time getting straight to business.  Beating the heat with some sea kayaking this morning and then cruising down to Acadia National Park, they laced up their hiking boots and went off for their first day hike in the afternoon.  Happy trails!

Cape Cod & the Islands (CI)

Rolling into Boston via their final ferry, CI had a chance to explore the great city today! Tonight they enjoyed a dinner out before having a final Apogee & Perigee circle and getting some sleep in preparation for their travels home tomorrow.

New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)

With only arrival day under their belts, NEMC jumped right into the fun! Today our NEMC team took flight, quite literally! Playing around in the ropes course sure was a blast, and also excellent for team bonding.

Colorado’s Rocky Mountains A (CRMA)

Welcome to Colorado! After arriving yesterday, CRMA used today to get their legs (and their lungs!) adjusted to being on trip.  They visited Grand Lake located at 8,400ft! Deep breaths everyone!

Colorado’s Rocky Mountains B (CRMB)

Today CRMB got to experience the beauty of the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park.  With some quick altitude gains, beautiful views and epic memories in their making, this trip is already taking their breath away!

Caribbean Service (CS)

Today CS said goodbye to Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, but not without getting in some more service hours first! They helped build a watering hole and chicken roosts before spending the afternoon exploring some more of beautiful Vieques.

Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)

With pencils in hands and blank page monsters putting up a fight, MCCE took the challenge head on.  They workshopped ideas, practiced working together and began to get some of their ideas down on the page.  We cannot wait to see what you come up with!

Maine Coast Photo (MCP)

Extra extra read all about it! Welcome to 2019’s first MCP trip! With cameras in hands, this lucky bunch said “Good bye, parents,” and, “Hello, Maine!” before heading towards their home away from home in Boothbay. One assumes that they’ll be better about pictures tomorrow, it is what they’re here for, after all!

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXA)

Still deep into the woods on the Appalachian Trail, these DEXA students are undoubtedly having an absolute blast.  Still no photos as they are simply soaking in nature technology free, but we can’t wait to see see their pictures and hear about their adventures when they come out.

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXB)

Preparation day! These students are gearing up (mentally and quite literally) to go sea kayaking tomorrow.  Despite perhaps spending part of their day in the van buried beneath all of their gear and groceries, it will all be worth it!

Vermont to Montréal A (VMA)

Riding on their “bicyclette” through Canada today, VMB navigated their first day of riding all in french! Trying out their french phrases they successfully grocery shopped and made it to their campsite. With tomorrow’s final ride on the horizon, this group will get to bed early to prepare for their big day!!

Vermont to Montréal B (VMB)

VMB had a huge day today! Not only did they crush 50 miles, they also crossed into Canada! Bienvenue au Canada, VMB. At camp with time to spare, this group got goofy and had a blast. This group is amazing. Next stop tomorrow: Montreal!

Costa Rica Language & Service (CRLS)

Hola, buenos días! (Hello, good morning!) This morning CRLS has their very first Spanish class! With some new words and phrases under their belts, they headed into community to do some service.  What better way to practice their Spanish than to interact with Spanish speakers right after class?!

Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)

CRMC is still at the magical eco lodge and they are all learning so much. Today they continued to work on a project that involves sustainability and water access for the community that they are in.  We are so proud of them for doing such important work and can’t wait to see their photos when they are back!

California Mountains & Coast (CMCA)

Welcome back! We missed you! Despite being out of the backcountry, they are very much still working their way back into service, meaning that we don’t have photos as of press time.

California Mountains & Coast (CMCB)

Back into civilization! CMCB we missed you all and are so happy you are back. Despite being out of the backcountry, they are very much still working their way back into service, meaning that we don’t have photos as of press time.

Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)

It’s another beautiful day for kayaking through fjords! There is absolutely no shortage of epic-ness on this trip and today was no exception. Kayaking, wild-life spotting, transporting, camping, bonding. Just another day in the life of an AKMC student!

Northwest Explorer (NWXA)

Yahoo! Trip start! NWXA is back up and running and we have a new group of students with us in Seattle! There is a lot of fun in store for these students over the next few weeks! Stay tuned to follow along.

Northwest Explorer (NWXB)

Another trip is up and running! NWXB gathered today in Seattle to start their epic adventure together today. Judging from the brief time they spent together today, we have a feeling that there is going to be some serious bonding on this trip!

Pacific Coast (PCA)

Today PCA arrived in Eugene ready to ride! Hold your horses PCA! Today is all about resting, bonding and preparing for the adventure ahead! These bikers have some serious miles ahead of them. Welcome to Apogee!

Pacific Coast (PCB)

The moment we have all been waiting for! After counting down the days, PCB finally has begun.  Today these bikers started forming friendships and preparing for the epic rides to come. We’re so excited you’re here!

Scottish Highlands (SH)

Today was a different kind of day for SH! Getting a break from their hiking boots, these hiking all-stars went seaward! They explored the beautiful coastline of the Arisaig archipelago. They also gave back to this beautiful community with a beach cleanup.  Unphased by the rain at this point, these SH students had a great time.

Alps Explorer (AX)

Planes and trains and automobiles! These students arrived by plane and took a train all the way to Zermatt! While there was a lot of transportation today, it was a great opportunity for these students to start to bond with their new Apogee family! Welcome!

Pyrenees Mountains & Coast (PMC)

Everybody’s gone surfing, surfing in Hendaye! Kick off your hiking boots, you’ve made it! After tackling the Pyranees, these amazing students got to reward themselves with a glorious day of surfing in France.  With some down time and exploration in their future, PMC certainly knows how to make the most out of everyday.

Europe Coast to Coast 1 (ECC1)

There is truly nothing like waking up slowly in Bolzano, Italy.  These “paperos fortunatos” (lucky ducks) earned themselves another rest day. Up in Northern Italy among the hills, these bikers got to take a break from riding and explore the gateway to the Dolomites.  Happy resting!

Europe Coast to Coast 2 (ECC2)

This group tackled 80km this morning and coasted in Bolzano, Italy this afternoon.  Quickly losing elevation, this group picked up speed and crushed miles like nobody’s business.  While they LOVE biking, they are looking forward to their rest day tomorrow!

America Coast to Coast (ACC)

ACC crushed 75 miles today and arrived in Roswell, NM. Roswell is most commonly known as home to the alleged UFO crash of 1947 that inspired multiple TV and book series about aliens and humans being friends. Eyes on the skies ACC!
