Day 2: Rockin’ and Rollin’

Hey, Apogee super fans! It’s finally Friday and while that might mean the end of the week for some people, it just means more beginnings for us. We have six new trips starting today, and we can’t wait to see the adventures they’ve already taken on. From line dancing in the high Spanish Pyrenees to kayaking on the coast of Maine, the Apogee family continues to show us the true meaning of a good time. If you thought Day 1 was as good as it gets, hold on to your hats because it is about to get even better!

Skip to a Specific Trip: MCJCI, CRMGSADEXCRLSCMCA, CMCB, AKMC, NWXA, NWXB, PCA, PCB, PMCAXACC

Maine Coast Junior (MCJ)

Let’s check in on our Maineiacs (how many Maine puns can we fit into one blog?) and their venture out to sea! MCJ spent the morning kayaking before anchoring down in gorgeous Acadia National Park. Rumor has it Ryan and Emma are professional moose whisperers, so hopefully there will be a sighting!

Cape Cod & the Islands (CI)

Our CI team showed us the right way to enjoy a beautiful day with a little bit of everything! After taking the ferry to Vineyard Haven, these young swashbucklers were ready to begin their biking adventure and explore some local treasures.

A little stop and shop!

Colorado’s Rocky Mountains (CRM)

Bison, mountains, and waterfalls – oh my! Time to check up on our professional wildlife spotters, who spent the day exploring Grand Lake, CO. The only thing higher than the altitude is this group’s energy level! Lack of sufficient cell service is preventing us from posting a picture by press time, but fingers crossed we’ll receive a picture soon, and we’ll update this post accordingly if so!

Golden State Adventure (GSA)

This Golden State Adventure crew was certainly glowing after spending the day hiking in Los Padres National Forest! We can’t know for sure, but we think they might have been witnessing Jonathon’s funky fresh dance moves in that second photo.

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX)

Did someone say lobster? No, but they did say “DEX 2019 TRIP START!” This crew was ready to rumble after meeting up with Malcolm and Cole in Freeport. Up next? Camden!

Costa Rica Language & Service (CRLS)

Ever wondered what the best class ever would look like? Well, look no further than our CRLS trip, who spent the morning practicing their Spanish in the greatest “classroom” ever. They might have even gotten to test out their language skills during their service project this afternoon!

California Mountains & Coast (CMCA)

Ahoy, Matey! Today, the CMCA group headed off on their overnight kayaking trip with their fearless leaders, Nils and Nicole. Goodbye Olema, hello Point Reyes and beyond!

California Mountains & Coast (CMCB)

Our CMCB group spent the morning bagging some beautiful California oranges at a food bank for a community affected by the recent wildfires. Afterward, they headed to their next campsite where they prepared for their upcoming kayak trip!

Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)

Hey, Alaska Mountains & Coast! Today this intrepid group of Alaskan explorers got acquainted with Chugach State Park. After their hike, they undoubtedly melded their minds to try to solve some of Garth and Olivia’s infamously tricky riddles.

Northwest Explorer (NWXA)

Woohoo! A fantastic trip start from our Northwest Explorers, who made their way to their legendary leaders, Tess and Liam! They have hit the road and are making their way out of the city towards one of Washington’s numerous beautiful State Parks. Pretty soon they’re going to be chanting, “West Coast, Best Coast!”

Northwest Explorer (NWXB)

Hello, Seattle! After the whole crew met up with leaders Jake and Morgan, NWXB was off! They made their way towards Bayview State Park to play some games and make an exquisite pasta dinner. If they’re lucky, they might get to hear some of Morgan’s world-renowned accents…

Pacific Coast (PCA)

PCA! PCA! This energetic crew was ready to get going after meeting up with the dashing Domi and Daryl (we promise more alliteration than you could ever hope for). Time to rest up and get ready to start cruising tomorrow!

A two-fer! Here’s a pic of both PC groups en route to their respective campgrounds.

Pacific Coast (PCB)

PCB! PCB! Let the good times begin! After meeting up with Andrew and Meg, this group headed to Jessie Honeyman State Park, where they’ll most likely dream of spinning bike wheels in anticipation of their upcoming travels…

Just in case you missed this picture above, here’s a shot of both PC groups!

Pyrenees Mountains & Coast (PMC)

Catch the PMC crew giving us their best moves as they started their first day of hiking! After a long day of flying to Barcelona, these adventurers were more than stoked to get into the high Spanish Pyrenees. Arriba!

Alps Explorer (AX)

Only smiles coming from our AX crew who were saying “bonjour” to Geneva, Switzerland, and their awesome trip leaders, Rachel and Jack. Next stop, Zermatt! P.S. you’ll never guess how many baguettes have already been consumed by these Apogee legends…

Thumbs up buttercup!

America Coast to Coast (ACC)

Our ACC gang is already working hard and gettin’ in those miles! They left James Island early this morning and made their way to Walterboro, SC, where they will get the chance to play a few games and rest up. West Coast here they come!
