Some days are filled with big adventures, while others are all about slowing down and enjoying the little moments. No matter what was on today’s itinerary, every group found simple joys along the way: sharing delicious meals, laughing over silly games, swapping stories on the trail, discovering beautiful views, and soaking up every minute together. Whether it was trying a new food, spotting something unexpected, or celebrating another day of adventure with friends, these are the moments that turn into lifelong memories. Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)
Today our AKMCers paddled through the beautiful waters around Seward, soaking in incredible mountain views one stroke at a time before checking out the area on foot and then paddling back into town for a much-anticipated resupply. Nothing brings a group together quite like debating the best trail snacks, finding the perfect treat, and enjoying a delicious meal after a day on the water. With full food bags, happy hearts, and plenty of excitement for tomorrow’s adventures, today was all about appreciating life’s simple joys.
Iceland Mountains & Coast (IMC)
Challenge day has arrived! Our IMC crew laced up their boots and set off on an incredible 18-kilometer hike through Skaftafell National Park, where every turn revealed another jaw-dropping view. While the towering glaciers and dramatic landscapes certainly stole the show, today’s simple joys came from cheering each other on up the climbs, taking snack breaks with unbelievable scenery, and celebrating every kilometer together. There’s nothing quite like earning a view with your new friends by your side!
Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)
Big ideas often come from the smallest moments, and today’s MCCE schedule was full of both! After another productive writing workshop, the group spent the afternoon volunteering with Growing to Give, lending a helping hand while learning about the importance of local agriculture and community before heading out for a much-needed swim. Between thoughtful conversations, meaningful service, salt water, and checking in with loved ones during an email stop, today proved that simple acts of kindness can leave the biggest impact.
Maine Coast Junior (MCJ)
Today our MCJ adventurers conquered not one, but TWO peaks in the beautiful Acadia National Park! After a morning of hiking, the crew celebrated with a delicious lunch before cooling off with an afternoon swim. Following their relaxing swim, they played some incredible group soccer and softball games! From spotting incredible views along the trail to splashing around with each other after a big accomplishment, today was packed with the kinds of little moments that make camp unforgettable.
Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX)
Every great adventure deserves a reset day, and DEX made the most of theirs! After arriving at Baxter State Park, the crew settled into camp and spent the day recharging before tomorrow’s big hike. Whether it was playing games around camp, organizing gear, enjoying a good meal together, or simply relaxing in one of Maine’s most beautiful places, today was a reminder that slowing down can be just as special as summiting a mountain.
New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)
Mount Washington day is finally here! Our NEMC crew took on New England’s tallest peak, encouraging one another every step of the way as they climbed through Crawford Notch and above the treeline. While reaching the summit was an INCREDIBLE accomplishment, today’s simple joys were found in trail snacks with a view, celebrating every milestone together, and sharing plenty of laughs along the climb. We have a feeling this is a day our NEMCers won’t forget anytime soon.
Pyrenees Mountains & Coast (PMC)
Day four on the Carros de Foc brought another beautiful day on the trail for our PMCers! The crew trekked 9 kilometers through stunning mountain scenery, making their way from one cozy Refugi to the next. Along the way, they discovered that the simple joys of backpacking, such as cool mountain breezes, crystal-clear lakes, snack breaks, and good conversation, can make even a challenging hiking day feel like an adventure worth savoring.
Vermont to Montreal (VM)
Every adventure must come to an end, and today our VMers said goodbye after an unforgettable journey together. Following an early morning departure from Montreal and the drive back to Wakefield, the crew reflected on all the little moments that made this trip so special, all the way from bike rides and belly laughs to shared meals and newfound friendships. While it’s never easy to say goodbye, we know these memories will stick around long after everyone has unpacked their bags.
