Day 9: Song of the Day: A Complete, Apogee Style Playlist

To celebrate our first trips of the summer coming to a close, we wanted to create something special for those heading home: the Apogee Summer Playlist. Every adventure has its own rhythm! Some feel like an upbeat road trip anthem, while others are more reflective, and full of unforgettable moments. From Italy to Alaska, no two trips have sounded quite the same, so we’ve thoughtfully paired each one with a song that captures its unique energy. Take a look and see if you agree with the soundtrack to each adventure!

Skip to a Specific Trip: AKMC, AXA, AXBCRM, CRMC, CSVI, DEX, DMCC, ECC, MCCE, MCJNEMC, NWMC, VM

Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)

This legendary AKMC squad woke up again in the beautiful Seward, Alaska. Today’s agenda: sea kayaking! This crew bravely donned all their layers and hit the water. I mean, just look at these views. Spirits were high despite it being a wee bit gray out. After an incredible day of paddling, AKMC headed back to camp, got cozied up, ate some yummy dinner, played some fun games, and got all snuggled up in their sleeping bags for the night. The song of the day for this bunch is, of course, “Send Me on My Way” by Rusted Root because this gaggle is always on their way to some jaw-dropping adventure!

Alps Explorer A (AXA)

After a quick “au revoir” to their camp in Les Houches and taking a look at their route for the day with Megan, AXA powered through another 11 miles along on the TMB! Their day of hiking was spent winding through french meadows, passing by glaciers, and working up a good appetite. After making it to camp for the evening and doing a big grocery resupply in town, Cook Crew whipped up some delicious burrito bowls for everyone to enjoy in celebration of a day well spent. Yet another day of “walking the world, walking the world”. AXA’s song of the day is “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall!

Alps Explorer B (AXB)

Our AXB crew left their refugio early this morning and hiked their way into Chamonix (who says early mornings can’t be fun?)! The views included some snowy mountain tops along the way and gorgeous churches upon arrival. Once the speedy hikers made it to Chamonix, they even had time to explore the town and do some souvenir shopping. Then, the crew set up camp for some cards, friendship bracelets, and yummy French dinner. To encapsulate their early wake up, the song for this group is “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5!

Colorado’s Rocky Mountains (CRM)

After hiking, climbing, rafting, and having a ton of fun together in the Rocky Mountains, CRM finally made their way into Boulder this morning to give back to their community by picking invasive species in a local dog park. After getting to camp in the afternoon, they cooled down with a friendly water balloon fight before heading back into Boulder for their final dinner together. Our CRM friends are feeling full of bitter sweet excitement to go home tomorrow and share their amazing camp stories with family and friends! As this new Apogee family prepares to say their farewells, John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High” will always remind them of the wonderful time they had adventuring in Colorado!

Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)

Los CampesiNOs, more like Los CampesinYES! The CRMC jungle explorers have been loving their luxurious accommodations in the Costa Rican Rainforest. Their guides are historical and geographical geniuses who have shared all about medicinal plants and wildlife in the area, as well as the best waterfall spots. The crew spent the morning hiking and swimming around the area, with some stops for amazing food on the way. They then headed back to the eco lodge for a cooking class where they learned to make tortillas from scratch! To capture the wildlife of this group’s adventures, “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley fits our playlist just right.

Caribbean Service Virgin Islands (CSVI)

Up with the sun and straight into the sea! The CSVI crew started the day with an awesome snorkeling adventure in the crystal-clear Caribbean waters before heading into town for some souvenir shopping. The fun didn’t stop there, though, as the island hoppers spent the afternoon playing games and enjoying time together. To finish off another unforgettable day, the crew gathered for a delicious Caribbean-themed dinner and watched the sunset over the water. It doesn’t get much better than that! Obviously, the song of choice for this group has to be “Island in the Sun” by Weezer!

Dolomite Mountains & Croatian Coast (DMCC)

Today, our Olympic hikers ended the Alta Via 1 trail in the only correct fashion: at the Olympic Rings themselves! The crew bid farewell to their incredible guide, squeezed in one last game of hacky sack, and enjoyed a scenic lunch overlooking the iconic rings. Tonight, the group will soak in one final evening in Italy before heading to its close neighbor, Croatia, tomorrow. To match this energy, the song for DMCC is “On Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons, because what else could possibly encapsulate the feeling of completing the AV1 at the Olympic rings?

Europe Coast to Coast (ECC)

As the 2026 Tour De France kicks off, it seems like the ECC crew could be mistaken as competitors in the race! This motivated crew has been crushing miles through Belgium, today being no different as they make their way to Kluisbergen, which is known for its hills that are popular among cyclists. And to celebrate their championing of those epic hills, the group celebrated a very special 16th birthday on a trip with some fun glasses and cake for everyone! To honor this competitive biking crew, “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers matches their energy perfectly!

Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)

Our aspiring writers had both a productive and relaxing trip that wrapped up today with some incredible essays and unforgettable beach time. These hot temperatures really played in this group’s favor, as they were able to explore much of Maine’s coastline after their creative writing sessions. “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac seems fitting for this crew that turned their essay visions into a reality!

Maine Coast Junior (MCJ)

This lively crew celebrated their final night together with an unforgettable Fourth of July fireworks show; the perfect ending for a group that brought energy everywhere they went. Their week was filled with laughs, smiles, and a few freshly choreographed dances that we hope live on for years to come. Following that theme, the only song that seems applicable for this crew would be “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake, because, obviously, this crew loved to “dance, dance, dance!”

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX)

After finishing their backcountry excursion yesterday, DEX’s fearless hikers took a well-deserved rest day. The group slept in and passed a leisurely morning at camp playing some of their favorite games! In the afternoon they headed to a nearby pond for a swim! Tonight our DEX squad hit the hay early to rest up for…drumroll, please…Katahdin day! Tomorrow, the crew will be up bright and early to hike the tallest mountain in Maine and the famed final section on the Appalachian Trail. Sweet dreams, dear DEXers. Your lullaby (and energy to bring in the morning) is, of course, “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus.

New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)

As the NEMC trip arrives home, they will surely have plenty of stories to tell. This adventure was filled with refreshing swim spots, summits of challenging peaks, and, of course, fun outfits and plenty of laughter along the way. We’ll miss seeing their smiling faces every day, but we know they’ll carry the memories they built long after the trip is over! Their song has to be “Tongue Tied” by Grouplove, to reminisce on their new Apogee family.

Northwest Mountains & Coast (NWMC)

Biggg transit day over here for our NWMCers. After getting off the water yesterday, they spent today driving to Marblemount. While they might have been doing the more mundane tasks like laundry and grocery shopping, this group knows how to have fun no matter what. They played epic songs, danced some epic jigs, and read the epic emails sent to them. Once at camp, the crew shook off their day of driving with yoga led by the one-and-only Morgan! Their song is 100% “Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts since this group is busy living their best life (even while on the highway!)

Vermont to Montreal (VM)

OH CANADA! Today this fiery squad went international! Yep, that’s right they rode right from their camp in Vermont straight across the Canadian border. And if you weren’t already impressed, today was their longest day riding yet coming in at a whooping 36 miles!!! Their song of the day has to be “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay because these incredible bikers sure do rule the world in our books.
