By our count, it’s Day 25 of the Apogee summer, but you know the saying: time flies when you’re having fun! Apogee trips are so jam packed with fun that time does funny things: days stretch out, basking in the long summer sun, while all of a sudden, the trip flies by. Day 3, Day 8, Day… 22?! We’re all over the place! Take a look today at where everyone’s at: and see if you can keep all the numbers straight!

Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)
If it’s their 2nd day kayaking, but Day 9 of the trip… carry the 1… multiply by 2x the adventure… oh well! AKMC is making the math work with some jaw-dropping kayaking skills: can you imagine kayaking out on clear Alaskan water, setting up camp on a gorgeous, remote bay, then waking up the next morning to paddle right back out? AKMC can: sounds like an adventure that’s more than the sum of its parts!
Alps Explorer (AX)
Our brave Alpine explorers are on a roll! Check out these incredible mountain peaks rising up behind th… is that the MATTERHORN in the background? That’s right, walking with pep in their step, we’re so confident in AX: and so excited for their upcoming start on the Tour du Mont Blanc! Can you believe it’s only Day 3?
Caribbean Service Puerto Rico (CSPR)
The CSPR crew has been working hard; today marked a change of accommodations, a drive west across the island, and a recharging of batteries. Students enjoyed reading their emails from home at the email stop, before cooking up a great iron chef dinner on this rest day to beat all rest days. Another reward? Their new accommodation has a pool. We’re losing count of the goodness on CSPR’s Day 8!
Dolomite Mountains & Croatian Coast (DMCC)
Day 6 for DMCC means Day 3 of hiking on the AV1: everyone catch that? Their first 3 miles this morning were a luxurious stroll through a picturesque valley, before steadily climbing the mountain passes familiar by now to this crew of intrepid hikers. They hiked over 10 miles today, gaining more than 3,000 feet of elevation: what a showing from DMCC!
Europe Coast to Coast (ECC)
On Day 22 of their great coast to coast adventure, ECC soaked in their final rest day before Venice, using the chance to call home and view emails as a burst of motivation to make it across the finish line. Campgrounds are a great place to kick back and enjoy a delicious breakfast-on-the-ground surrounded by friends! Did we mention they climbed over the ALPS yesterday? Uh, yeah, they deserve this break!
Iceland Mountains & Coast (IMC)
Day 10 means an 11-mile challenge hike with 12 out of 10 views! IMC truly had a stunning hike today: some of the most breathtaking scenery we’ve ever seen. And it was made all the sweeter with the work put into it by these amazing hikers, given today was their longest hike yet. They enjoyed an eroded volcanic mountain, stellar views, and a yummy dinner and cuddle puddle to celebrate. Tomorrow marks a victory lap in Reykjavik. Go team!
New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)
Today (for those keeping track at home, that’s Day 5) was NEMC’s challenge day! Hiking up verdant Mt. Pierce, they stopped at a hut for a nice break and a yummy lunch, before tackling the summit. After such an accomplishment, what better celebration than pizza (a mathematician’s favorite food: so many ways to divide)! Great job NEMC, keep up the amazing work!
Northwest Mountains & Coast (NWMC)
Community service, ecology, paddling away from their campsite in style… NWMC keeps raking in the style points: count ‘em up! Today they helped collect and record data for a Department of Natural Resources pilot program, and learned all about identifying local species unique to the stunning San Juan Islands. One quick ferry ride later, and a new state park to see, NWMC is already off to the races on their next big adventure!
Pyrenees Mountains & Coast (PMC)
What better way to finish our numerical journey than with PMC finishing the Camino de Foc! Their longest day yet was a roaring success, going 15 kilometers to climb over the final few mountain passes in their way before 5,190 feet of descent. Reaching Espot triumphantly to finish the day, this group’s swagger is infinite!
