Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)
Welcome back from the backcountry AKMC! The group hiked through a beautiful Alaskan valley on their trek out of the backcountry today passing by rivers and mountain peaks. When they reached the land of cell service and humans, they enjoyed a celebratory meal at a local Alaskan burger joint (complete with face glitter, and all)!
Colorado’s Rocky Mountains (CRM)
After yesterday’s epic challenge hike, CRM changed gears and enjoyed some water time. The squad rafted down the Cache la Poudre River (which means hiding place of the power)! They floated past the stunning Poudre Canyon on white water rafts, splashing and laughing the whole way! Post-rafting called for some well-deserved ice cream.
Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)
CRMC started the morning by celebrating the birthday girl with pancakes, fruit towers, and bacon! Happy Birthday!!! The group then took to the mountains hiking part of the Chirripo trail (the tallest mountain in Costa Rica)! and headed towards the Nature Reserve located within the cloud forests. The team saw waterfalls, hanging bridges, and monkeys on their rainforest hike. They returned to camp for a wicked hot tub, scrumptious birthday dinner, and ice cream!
Caribbean Service Puerto Rico (CSPR)
CSPR began their day helping out on a small farm where they cleared out some land to make room for future planting, under the guidance of their new friend, Martin. They got to try some fresh cacao and bread fruit during a lunch break, then said adiós to the coast and headed towards the mountains and valleys of Utuado located in the center of Puerto Rico. What an awesome day!
Caribbean Service Virgin Islands (CSVI)
This morning the crew helped out at The Nature Conservancy – bushwhacking, painting and cutting sea turtle nest markers! To unwind, they headed over to the beach for some snorkeling, relaxing, and volleyball.
Europe Coast to Coast (ECC)
Today ECC took a much deserved rest from their wheels and headed out by foot instead. They wandered on a road that has existed since Roman times! Schiltach is a beautiful German town located on two rivers that once supported textile mills, saw mills and tanneries. With bodies recovered and bikes tuned up, these kids are ready for their next few hilly days of riding into the Alps.
Iceland Mountains & Coast (IMC)
IMC focused on the “ice” in Iceland today, as they hiked on a GLACIER! They climbed through a crevasse and used ice axes as they explored the giant ice structure. Back at camp they played card games to finish off an awesome day!
Maine Coast Junior (MCJ)
Hello from Acadia says MCJ, it’s Challenge Day! The crew rose to the occasion today before the sun and tackled Champlain Mountain. They reached the summit bright and early, and were some of the first people in the country to see the sun today. How cool! They spent the afternoon swimming and exploring bar harbor, and capped the night off with a pizza dinner by the ocean.
New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)
Challenge Day!! Today NEMC tackled the tallest mountain on the northeastern seaboard… Mt Washington! They zoomed up the trail and made it to the top in time for lunch with a spectacular view. They headed back down the mountain to celebrate a spectacular day!
Northwest Mountains & Coast (NWMC)
The Pacific Northwesterners had yet another beautiful day of hiking and swimming. Today, their feet took them to Lake Angles where they got to hang out under the blue skies by the water playing games. This was their last day hike before they head to the coast for their kayaking adventure.
Pacific Coast (PC)
Congratulations PC!! It was an epic day, indeed. The crew covered many miles biking over the nearly two mile long Golden Gate Bridge into the City of Fog. After almost 3 weeks of riding, they have reached their final destination of the trip. Welcome to San Francisco everyone!!!
