Day 29: And We’re Feelin’ Fine!

Whoooeee! I don’t know about you, but this sure has been a fantastic summer so far! From ice climbing to surfing, we’ve seen a whole lot of smiling faces. As a whole bunch of trips get started (and a few more wrap up) it’s a pretty darn exciting time here in the ApoBlogVerse, so why don’t we stop reading/writing this intro, and get right into it?!

Skip to a Specific Trip: CI, NEMCANEMCB, CS, MCCE, DEXA, DEXB, VLCAVLCBCRMC, GSA, CMCAKMCA, AKMCB, NWXA, NWXB, PC, ACC1, ACC2

Cape Cod & the Islands (CI)

Day broke on a new CI trip, and they wasted no time exploring their surroundings! After a delightful bike and a smooth ferry ride (woah, say that 5 times fast), our group acquainted themselves with Martha’s Vineyard! Happy hanging, CI!

New England Mountains & Coast A (NEMCA)

NEMCA kicked off their trip (but not their shoes) today! After the crew met up in Massachusetts, they (and their three coolers) played some games, had an enviably delicious snack, and set off for their first night together under the stars!

New England Mountains & Coast B (NEMCB)

NEMCB met up on the hallowed fields of Wakefield, MA today, and wasted no time having fun! After what we surmise was a great snack, and accompanying van ride (what better way to digest?!), the group settled in to their first campground. Happy adventuring!

Caribbean Service (CS)

After two weeks of service all around the Island of Enchantment, CS took the opportunity to explore Old San Juan on their final day together! A little rain couldn’t stop these do-gooders! Adios y gracias, CS!

Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)

MCCE today started out with a huge challenge: how in the heck do you focus on essays when Maine is so beautiful! I mean, goodness gracious, that photo is bodacious! Lucky for them (and maybe, honestly, only them) it’s raining tomorrow, so they’ll be able focus on typing away in their cozy accommodations!

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXA)

Wow! What a trip it has been for our DEXA group! After a trip of hiking, they set out to kayak the waters of Casco Bay, before heading into Freeport, ME to explore and enjoy one more meal together! Congrats on a great trip!

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXB)

Did you know that DEXB climbed Katahdin yesterday?! Well we sure did, but these rockin’ hikers wanted to make sure we knew it with photo evidence that didn’t make it to us yesterday! Ah, to be young, and bask in the accomplishments of yore. Congrats, DEXB, enjoy your final night!

Vermont & Lake Champlain A (VLCA)

VLCA is crusing!! I mean, c’mon, look at that view! This group crushed their miles today , and earned some fantastic vistas! Keep on keeping on!

Vermont & Lake Champlain B (VLCB)

VLCB took a break from their trusty two wheeled steeds today, and enjoyed the serenity and glory of Lake Champlain. After soaking up some sun and enjoying some fun, these champions will mount back up tomorrow and keep on biking!

Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)

Ahhh, Costa Rica. After a full trip exploring all the wonders this great country has to offer, our CRMC bunch spent one last day enjoying each other’s company and crushing some sweet, sweet barrels (apparently that’s slang for surfing). After hangin’ ten (or 14, if you want to include everyone) the group headed out for a final dinner. Safe travels tomorrow, CRMC! (Pro tip! If you keep all of the sand that stuck to you on the beach on your person, it won’t be counted as a checked bag!)

California Mountains & Coast (CMC)

After a great two weeks exploring all that California has to offer, CMC headed to the coast for a day of service, and soaking up that famous California sun! Well… that last part about the sun might not have panned out, but these campers sure had a fun last day, and even got a surprise guest appearance from our Director, Chad! Bon voyage, CMC!

Golden State Adventure (GSA)

Day One, Day Fun! GSA wasted no time on their So Cal adventure, setting out to trek in the hills of California, and explore some wind caves (woah! Wind can make caves?!!?) This blogger sure is excited to see all of the fun to come for this bunch!

Alaska Mountains & Coast A (AKMCA)

Is that Alex Honnold and Co. summiting Denali?! Nope! It’s our hearty AKMCA group absolutely having a blast ice climbing a glacier yesterday (photos came through after press time yesterday). After two weeks in Alaska, they spent tonight reflecting on their amazing journey together. This gang can take on anything! Farewell, AKMCA!

Alaska Mountains & Coast B (AKMCB)

AKMCB spent their final day giving back to the great state they have called home for the past two weeks! They packed up books to be shipped to across Alaska, and leader Zach mistook the kids for tomorrow’s checked bags! Save it for tomorrow, you goofballs, you can’t earn miles from a shipping container!

Northwest Explorer (NWXA)

And NWXA is off! After playing all sorts of fun meet and greet games yesterday, NWXA hit the trails today! With views like this, I’m willing to bet this group was in awe all day long! Here’s to each day being just as gorge!

Northwest Explorer (NWXB)

You know what they say: the best way to learn the land is to go kayaking! Whilst their sister trip strapped on their boots, NWXB hit the high (and tranquil) seas! These intrepid sea-people will spend tonight on an island! SAY WHAT? Like entirely surrounded by water?! Woah, that’s wild!

Pacific Coast (PC)

PC stands for Pacific Coast? More like Pretty Coolgroupofawesomebikers! It was the first day of riding for this bunch of cyclists, and they crushed it! It’s not everyday you wake up and say, “hey, what if we biked 30 miles to somewhere else and carried all of our stuff?” Radical stuff, PC!

America Coast to Coast 1 (ACC1)

Our trailblazing ACC1 slayed their first big climb today, and let me tell you, not only did they go up 4,000 feet to Indian Divide (and then, as Isaac Newton would demand we note, down), they also made all of us gosh darn proud! What an amazing crew!

America Coast to Coast 2 (ACC2)

Well well well, another day, another bike ride that was no match for our ACC2’ers, and to top it off, they entered New Mexico! WoahHEYOOO! The University of New Mexico’s mascot is the Lobos, so rest easy ACC2 wolf-pack, you’re with family now. AWOOOOOOO!!
