In honor of National Vanilla Ice Cream Day, we’re dishing up something sweet. Today’s adventures were as varied and flavorful as your favorite ice cream shop’s menu, so we’ve taken the liberty of pairing each group with a signature scoop. From alpine switchbacks to island sunsets, here’s what our Apogee cone looks like today:

Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)
Its the last day for our AKMC crew, wrapping up an incredible Alaskan adventure. From glacier hikes to coastal sunsets, the memories are rich, sweet, and timeless – just like French Vanilla. Hugs were shared and duffels zipped. The trip may be over, but we know everyone is leaving with full hearts and lots of stories to tell!
Alps Explorer A (AXA)
The first day on the trail brought some fresh alpine air, delicious trail snacks, and lots of hacky sack along the way. The group found their rhythm quickly, hiking with confidence and soaking in the views as they settled into life on the Tour du Mont Blanc. Mint Chip is today’s flavor – refreshing and upbeat. A crisp start to the miles ahead!
Alps Explorer B (AXB)
Day two on the Tour du Mont Blanc was full of beautiful hiking and high spirits! The group kept a steady pace, soaked in some stunning views, and capped it all off with a cozy, traditional French dinner at their refugio. Crème Brûlée Gelato is today’s flavor: rich, layered, and just a little fancy. This crew is settling into trail life with style (and lots of baguettes).
Colorado’s Rocky Mountains (CRM)
The group took on their first hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, taking in the views, enjoying the fresh air, and keeping their eyes peeled for moose around every bend. Spirits were high as they got their legs moving and started settling into high-altitude life. Moose Tracks is today’s scoop (obviously!): classic, bold, and full of surprises.
Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)
After packing up their casa, this crew cooled down with some refreshing smoothies. They then travels to their final destination before sitting down for their final dinner in Alajuela tonight, looking back on a week full of hiking, surfing, and adventures with friends. It was a chance to tell stories, share lots of laughs, and soak in one last evening together. Dulce de Leche feels just right – smooth, rich, and quietly memorable. A sweet wrap to a really wonderful trip!
Caribbean Service Puerto Rico (CSPR)
Today was bright, bold, and bursting with energy. CSPR snorkeled in turquoise waters, explored vibrant Old San Juan, and shared one final celebratory meal together. Mango Sorbet really captures it all – refreshing, tropical, and full of island goodness. Every moment was savored, from the sea to the sand. The group really made the most of their last day in paradise together.
Caribbean Service Virgin Islands (CSVI)
The group loved spending the day working in the shelter with Ruff Start – walking dogs, cleaning, organizing, and jumping in wherever they were needed. Later, they explored tide pools, spotting sea glass, hermit crabs, and other ocean treasures. Honeycomb Crunch fits the vibe perfectly: golden, meaningful, and full of sweet surprises. A hands-on, purpose-filled day!
Europe Coast to Coast (ECC)
A smooth 60 kilometers of mostly downhill riding made today a breeze for the bikers. After the ride, they enjoyed cake and cooled off with some relaxing pool time. Stracciatella is today’s flavor: classic, refreshing, and filled with the kind of moments that make a big day feel even sweeter. The group is rolling towards Venice strong!
Iceland Mountains & Coast (IMC)
First day energy in Iceland was in full effect: new names, exploration of their first campsite (oh look a colorful trampoline!), and lots of fun on the black sand beach at the campground. The group kicked off their trip with a lively round of soccer and a whole lot of laughter. Birthday Cake is the flavor of the day: bright, super sweet, and made for new beginnings. There’s a full adventure ahead, but today’s kickoff had all the ingredients for something really special.
Maine Coast College Essay (ECC)
Today was all about settling in – getting to campus, unpacking bags, meeting new faces, and getting the feel for the big week ahead. Soft Serve Swirl is the flavor of the day: simple, balanced, and a perfect base for what’s ahead. The ideas are brewing, the group is bonding, and the writing starts tomorrow!
Northwest Mountains & Coast (NWMC)
Rafting day! These adventurers suited up in helmets, grabbed paddles, and took on the rapids with force. It was energetic and tons of fun – just like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. A wild ride packed with sweet moments, today was unforgettable start to finish. This crew is really soaking up the best of the Pacific Northwest.
Pyrenees Mountains & Coast (PMC)
Steep climbs, alpine lakes, and truly jaw-dropping views today for the Pyrenees hikers as they tackled one of their most demanding routes yet with determination. Rocky Road is today’s flavor: rugged, rich, and super rewarding. It was a big big day in the mountains and our group is bonding over every breathtaking step.
