Alaska Mountains & Coast (AKMC)
The crew spent the day on the water again paddling around Resurrection Bay. They were met with views of glaciers and forested slopes on the surrounding fjord-like landscape. Back in Seward, the group prepped for tomorrow’s adventure – ice climbing!!
Alps Explorer A (AXA)
Today the AXA team hiked to see views of the Matterhorn – one of the tallest mountains in the Alps and all of Europe! They enjoyed stunning views of the surrounding peaks the whole way up and down. They spent an afternoon of pure joy playing hacky sack, on a trampoline, exploring town, and playing games at camp!
Alps Explorer B (AXB)
AXB took to the trail today, where they swiftly completed eight miles. They saw stunning views of the Alps and beautiful surrounding landscape, and five lakes with the bluest water ever! The evening was spent eating delicious food and playing games in camp.
Costa Rica Mountains & Coast (CRMC)
This morning the group learned all about coconuts! Did you know that there are 150 varieties of coconuts in Costa Rica alone? That’s (coco)nuts! The group made coconut oil, ate a variety of coconut snacks, and learned all about the harvesting and growing processes with their wonderful guide David. The afternoon was spent in the pool and at the beach. What an awesome day!
Caribbean Service Puerto Rico (CSPR)
CSPR spent the morning working on trail maintenance projects in the Tanama River Valley, one of the wildest and least developed areas on the island. After a morning of service and many days in the forested mountains, the crew traveled back towards the coast to Luquillo and said hello to the ocean once again!
Caribbean Service Virgin Islands (CSVI)
Welcome to the first full day of CSVI! This morning, the team took a dip in the ocean and got a tour of their accommodations for the next few days, which included sampling fruit from the delicious mango and coconut trees on the property. After a delicious fruit salad as part of lunch, they spent the afternoon playing card games and making friendship bracelets. The group spent an incredible evening paddling in the bay and seeing the glowing bioluminescence!
Europe Coast to Coast (ECC)
Today ECC learned that sometimes heading backwards is the only way forwards. When all passes over the Alps were closed, ECC prevailed. They turned around and rode back down to their lunch spot from yesterday, getting to enjoy all the hard work they had put in going up. Then they hopped on a train that took them a long way around the Alps. Though it wasn’t the day they hoped for, they had a blast and even had time to visit a pool to cool down in the afternoon!
New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)
After nine incredible days NEMC came to a close. The crew made new friends, adventured from New Hampshire to Maine, and saw stunning views. We are so proud of everyone!!
Northwest Mountains & Coast (NWMC)
NWMC slept under the stars last night and woke up to a beautiful view of the ocean from the San Juan Islands. They spent the morning volunteering with the Department of Natural Resources, helping to identify species and learning about the islands’ ecology. After bidding farewell to their beautiful island home, the group paddled along the San Juans one last time and took a ferry ride back to the mainland!
Pyrenees Mountains & Coast (PMC)
Today, the PMC crew left the coast and headed towards the mountains. They traveled to the Pyrenees with beautiful views the whole way. Once in camp, they played some games and got prepared for the coming days of backpacking!
