Don your finest seersucker and set sail with us to learn more about Rosa, Noah, Laura, & Kirk – the fearless few who will be navigating the cobblestoned streets of Nantucket, riding the waves on the inter-island ferry, and guiding their groups to the very best beaches on the Vineyard this summer.  Indeed, it is a tough job.  But someone has to do it.

Rosa Waters

It’s a bit of a joke among her family that Rosa Waters’ last name suits her perfectly, as she’s always loved everything having to do with water.  As a kid, she swam competitively for a local swim team, attended surfing camps, and has recently learned to kayak on the James River near her home in Richmond, Virginia.  Now a rising Junior at the University of Virginia, Rosa is studying Political and Social Thought.  At UVA, Rosa is an active member of both the Outing Club and the Triathalon club.  Additionally, she tutors elementary school students through UVA’s “Madison House Homework Helpers” program.  Rosa spent last summer working as an intern with the Virginia Poverty Law Center, and she got the chance to use her Spanish skills as an interpreter for clients as she worked to help compile visa applications.  In previous summers, Rosa has loved her work with kids as a field hockey coach at a training camp in Richmond. Rosa is certified in First Aid and CPR.

Noah Randall

Hailing from from Medford, Massachusetts, Noah Randall is an enthusiastic rising Junior at Colby College.  He is pursuing a Global Studies major at Colby, which makes sense, given his adventurous spirit.  Noah comes from an outdoorsy family, and has three siblings, all of whom grew up spending their summers at the small overnight summer camp that their parents ran in New Hampshire.  Noah is very active, he’s run three marathons (the first when he was sixteen!), plays on Colby’s varsity soccer team, and spends as many weekends as possible romping around the Maine wilderness with friends.  Outside of his athletic endeavors at Colby, Noah works as a Community Advisor, Colby’s equivalent of an resident advisor, and also as a tour guide for the admissions department.   Last summer, Noah split his time working with kids as a camp counselor and driving an ice cream truck around Cape Cod, and he’s thrilled once again be spending his summer outside!  Noah is certified in First Aid and CPR.

Laura Aragon

A proud Maryland native, Laura Aragon grew up just outside of Washington, DC.  She’s a 2013 graduate from the College of William and Mary, where she studied Psychology.  At William and Mary, Laura tutored with a program called College Partnership for kids, which provides academic assistance to elementary school aged students who are struggling in school.  Laura spent last spring satisfying her itch to travel.  Over the course of her semester, she visited fourteen European cities, and spent time teaching English to elementary school students. Laura has worked as a camp counselor, primarily teaching swimming skills to kids ages three to thirteen, and has also worked as a lifeguard.  Laura can’t wait to spend this summer biking around Cape Cod with her groups and swimming at the beautiful beaches along the way!  Laura is certified in First Aid and CPR.

Kirk Jackson 

Kirk Jackson is a rising junior at Tufts University hailing from San Francisco.  Though he’s majoring in Engineering Psychology and Anthropology, Kirk loves spending time in the great outdoor – and, perhaps more importantly, he loves to dance.  Additionally, Kirk is passionate about working with kids.  Through a program at Tufts, Kirk teaches health workshops health in high schools in and around Boston, and spent time last year teaching a week-long robotics workshop to second graders in a New York City public school.  At Tufts, Kirk leads trips throughout the year with the Tufts Mountain club, climbing mountains and adventuring throughout the northeast with groups of fellow Jumbos.  Kirk is fluent in Spanish, and is learning Chinese; he spent much of one summer in Western China, learning Mandarin and about the culture.  His groups can look forward to learning a bit of Mandarin from Kirk this summer, and also, perhaps, the not-so-occasional dance party. Kirk is certified in First Aid and CPR.
