Day 25: Jiving, Striving, and Thriving!

Twas another day, packed with Apogee fun –

Made better by kiddos, challenge, and sun!

Like most good days there was loads to do –

Like kayak, ride, write, or take in a good view.

We have groups biking, hiking, exploring –

Today could be called anything but boring.

We’re not very good at writing in rhyme,

if only Dr. Seuss were here to help keep us in time.

Without further ado we’ll send you on your way –

To enjoy our post – our dear blog of the day!

Skip to a Specific Trip: MCJ, CI, NEMCCSA, MCCE, MCP, DEXA, DEXB, VM, CRLS, CMCA, CMCBECCA, ECCB, ACC1, ACC2

Maine Coast Junior (MCJA)

Our Maine Coast Junior Apples said their departures down in Wakefield today – after a wonderful week of hiking, biking, kayaking, and service, it was a bittersweet farewell.

Jumping for joy!

Maine Coast Junior (MCJB)

Maine Coast Junior Bananas also said bye-bye-bye today – with new friends and memories stored in their backpacks, they’re homeward bound!

Cape Cod & the Islands (CI)

Our Capers completed their final ride today – can you believe it? Having moved continuously further up the Cape for the past few days, they rode a solid 24 miles to the very tippy top today, ending their day at camp in Provincetown. Congrats, Capers – on to celebrate in Boston tomorrow!

Ice cream stop!
Time for a mini-golf break?!

New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)

NEMC dove into their first full day together with some serious group-bonding activities. They spent the day taking on games, ice-breakers, puzzlers, low ropes, high ropes, and more! An excellent way to get to know each other and prepare for their many adventures to come…

Hmm…puzzling.

Caribbean Service Adventure (CSA)

What activity involves goggles and flippers? You guessed it – down in the Caribbean our adventurers went snorkeling this morning! After resurfacing they spent their afternoon working on their painting project with Reach for Success.

Maine Coast College Essay (MCCE)

Today our collegiate, coastal crew spent the morning writing and then got to enjoy the beautiful weather and explore outside – settling in to their surroundings and their essay topics. It was a lovely day to be in Maine!

Maine Coast Photo (MCP)

Maine Coast Photo hit the waves today – they explored with a full day of sea-kayaking in the Harpswell Sound. With cameras on board, we’re sure they got some stellar shots. They had magnificent weather!

Phloating photographers!

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXA)

DEX Alpha hoisted full packs on to their shoulders and headed into the back country today – with everything they need for the next three days on their backs, they’ll experience the Appalachian trail and all it’s remote beauty together. Unfortunately they couldn’t squeeze a photo in before they hiked in this morning – but, we can’t wait to get some beautiful photos on the flip side!

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXB)

Today DEX Bravo took on the highest peak in Maine – they conquered Mount Katahdin – the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, sitting majestically at 5,267 feet. The group enjoyed phenomenal weather and a successful summit. Congrats on this amazing accomplishment!

Sunday is a Summit Day!

Vermont to Montréal (VM)

One step closer to their final destination, today the VM crew rode 23 miles through pastoral Canadian back roads. They made it to camp in stellar time, ending their day at camp in Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu. On to Montreal, tomorrow!

The grass is always greener…in Canada?

Costa Rica Language & Service (CRLS)

CRLS continues to live it up, immersing themselves in the rain forest and the community at the Ecolodge. They’re continuing on with an in-depth infrastructure project that our groups started last year, as well as cooking great meals, and learning about and exploring the rain forest. We’ll continue to look forward to photos in the coming days!

California Mountains & Coast (CMCA)

Today is CMCApogee’s second day in the beautiful backwoods of Yosemite. While they don’t get cell service out there, they are likely enjoying epic views, tons of trail games, and enjoying living off the grid. Counting down the moments until we can see some photos – happy trails!

California Mountains & Coast (CMCB)

Trading packs for paddles, CMCBesties started their water-based portion of the trip. Today was their first day of paddling in the famed Point Reyes national seashore. Splish, splash, CMCB!

Europe Coast to Coast (ECCA)

Today our European A-Team had a rest day in Bolzano. Bolzano is considered a gateway city to the Dolomites mountain range and is accented by a 13th century castle and a cathedral with epic Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Sounds like a pretty glorious place for a day off the bikes!

Up, up, and away from the bikes!

Europe Coast to Coast (ECCB)

ECCB rode to Bolzano, IT today – they made it to camp in excellent time! With only two big days of riding between them and Venice, they’re looking forward to a good ol’ fashioned rest day in Bolzano tomorrow to get ready.

Italian Adirondack chairs!
So mystical…

America Coast to Coast (ACC1)

ACC Uno is officially in New Mexico! With their biggest day yet now behind them, we’re pleased to say they only had a mere (ha!) 62 miles to go today. Another state behind them!

But what is the energy Plex? UFOs?!

America Coast to Coast (ACC2)

ACC2x-the-Fun rode a stellar 85 miles into Jayton, TX today. With most of TX in their dust, and just one more day of Lone Star ahead of them, this group is just continuing on – happily cruisin’ westward!

There’s no color like sunrise color…
