Day 12: Living the Apogee Dream

Skip to a Specific Trip: MCJ, CI, NEMC, CRM, CSA, MCCE, MCP, DEXA, DEXB, VM, CRLS, CMCA, CMCB, CQA, CQB, MSA, NWXA, NWXB, PCA, PCB, SHX, AXA, AXB, ECCA, ECCB, ACC1, ACC2

There was some great city exploration happening today! In the northeast, CI explored Boston and further south CSA headed into San Juan. Furthermore, the culturally rich cities of Paris and Montreal were visited by our bike crews. Outside city lines, our groups were immersed in forests and mountains alike, played by the ocean, and biked across state (and country!) borders. A whole bunch of pictures came in today (service abound for most!), so check it out!

Cape Cod & the Islands (CI)

CI is soaking up the last of their time together by exploring Boston. Tonight they’ll enjoy a team meal in the city!

We need Ben for scale here!

New England Mountains & Coast (NEMC)

It’s the first full day for NEMC, and they’re wasting no time launching into trip life. Today they climbed on a ropes course in New Hampshire. Tomorrow, it’s mountain time!

What a course!

Caribbean Service Adventure (CSA)

CSA is heading from Vieques back to the mainland, and will spend their last day together exploring San Juan.

Maine Coast Photo (MCP)

A new day, and a new place to explore! MCP spent the morning at the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden. This afternoon they launched into a photo workshop. They’re on the way to becoming professionals!

Killin’ the camera game!

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEXA)

DEX has really gotten to know Baxter State Park! From their AT hiking and Katahdin views to kayaking, they’ve done it all! Tonight they’re island camping before transit tomorrow.

Vermont to Montréal (VM)

VM enjoyed a full day in Montréal, and their last day together. They’ll have their final dinner in the city tonight before the drive home to the good ol’ U-S-of-A.

Costa Rica Language & Service (CRLS)

We promised rain forest pictures, and we’ve got them for you! These pictures are from the past few days which included service, exploring, Spanish immersion, and waterfalls (obviously). A few more days left in paradise!

Service in the jungle
Told you there would be waterfalls!
Hands up?!

California Mountains & Coast (CMCA)

Since getting out of the back country, CMCA wasted no time getting to the coast! They spent the morning surfing in the Pacific, and will camp near the beach.

Apogee Surf Explorers!

California Mountains & Coast (CMCB)

Guess who else is catching some waves? That’s right, CMCB! The question remains…who caught more waves?

Note both groups took surfing pictures in the parking lot… hmmm

Coast to Québec (CQA)

CQA is well into their Canadian tour, and spent the day biking in a river valley. Today was more of a leisurely bike ride and tomorrow they’ll be in Québec City!

CQB is making their way across the border today. This is the moment they’ve all been waiting for!

Bienvenue a CANADDDDDDDDDDDA

Montana Service Adventure (MSA)

MSA spent the day helping out at the Blackfeet Indian reservation. They’re helping clean up a site that was the location of a powwow last evening, one of the many ceremonies happening all over Montana this season. They’re super excited to be able to jump in and learn while helping out!

Northwest Explorer (NWXA)

It’s day two of the back country explorations in the North Cascades. The won’t be able to send us pictures for a while, but our patience will be well rewarded.

Northwest Explorer (NWXB)

These NWXers are enjoying a rest day in Anacortes, a port town near the Puget sound. They’re prepping for the next backcountry portion, and stretching their legs in the beautiful park.

Guess which two people aren’t part of the Apogee crew… (hysterical joke from leader Sean)
Friends on the glorious PNW coast!

Pacific Coast (PCA)

It’s back on those bikes with a 60 mile ride through the “Avenue of the Giants”, a long ride through the redwoods.

Pacific Coast (PCB)

Today was PCB’s turn for service in Eureka with the nonprofit Food for People. They enjoyed their rest day giving back to the community and spending time away from the saddle.

Hard at work!
PC Support joined too! Hey Mark!
Where’s Mark? There he is!

Scottish Highland Explorer (SHX)

Our trusty highland explorers reached the top of Ben Nevis, and were surrounded by green as far as the eye can see. Smiles abound in the Nevis range!

AXA trekked 20 km today to the hamlet of Les Chapieux. During their hike they passed by Notre-Dame de la Gorge, a popular pilgrimage chapel. Out of service – expect pictures soon!

Alps Explorer (AXB)

AXB had a big day today with a strenuous hike and some of the best views of Mont Blanc. If you don’t believe us, check out these pictures! Tomorrow they have a rest day and we expect a full report of where the best pizza and gelato are.

America Coast to Coast (ACC1)

Our first ACC crew had just under a “century” ride (they did 99 miles, but who’s counting?) , and quite an exciting one at that- they’re in Mississippi! It’s been 12 days, and they’re now on their fourth state.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: ACC1 did loops around the church in order to hit 100 miles. More like ACC-amazing, amiright?
