Wrapping Up

Our final Coast to Québec trips finished up today, which means the end of the Apogee season for leader pairs Meaghan & Mike, Cait & Evan. In two vans we left Québec City early this morning and made the trek back to Freeport. Both groups seem to have had hugely successful trips and it was fond farewells all around. From my initial debrief with the leaders, they all reported having had a super time with their kids.

I spoke briefly to Lidia and Cyrus on Nantucket this afternoon. I interrupted them in the middle of an intense volleyball game, but they reported that all is well. They’re planning a challenge ride of sorts tomorrow around the island. Hard to believe they’re done with the majority of their riding at this point. Included below is a picture of the kids doing some service work on Martha’s Vineyard yesterday.

Mike and Aviva have left the islands and are making their way north up the Cape. They had a leisurely morning of mini golf in Orleans before riding to Wellfleet later this afternoon. Mike said they’re all excited about surfing tomorrow. Below is a picture of the group grabbing some ice cream yesterday in Hyannis.

No word from Rachel and Mike in Washington, but we don’t expect to hear anything until Monday when they emerge from the mountains and reenter civilization.

Last but not least, out ACC group blasted out 100 miles before 2:30 PM PST. They left Prescott, AZ a little after 5:30 AM and never looked back. They’re in the cool confines of a school gymnasium tonight in the Sonoran Desert. Tomorrow is a relatively short day (about 56 miles), before their long trek Sunday to Twentynine Palms, CA. Chad is out with the group now cheering them on and slinging water, salty chips and orange slices. He asked me to post a picture of a cactus to help set the scene…

That’s it for tonight…

Kevin
