Faithful blog-readers (now that our Coast to Coasters are working their way through Texas, I’m tempted to try out the term “bloggeroos,” but I’m not sure how well that would go over…), it was a quiet day in Apogee-ia. Today and tomorrow are about the quietest days of the summer, in fact, as we have only four trips in the field.

Our most recently launched trip, Mike, Emily and Aviva’s Mountains and Coast trip, started today in Weston. Kevin was there to watch the trip start and reported that all signs point to a great trip. By the time you are reading this, our group will have put the Boston suburbs far behind them, literally and figuratively, and will be getting to know each other around a campfire in the New Hampshire deep in the New Hampshire mountains. They have also promised to send me pictures during the trip – I’ll do my best to hold them to it.

We didn’t hear from Lidia and Cyrus today, but we’re confident that they were avoiding the poison ivy as they did community service out on the Vineyard.

And we did hear from our Montanans today – they emerged from Glacier National Park unscathed! Whilst in Glacier, Jess, Colby and the crew completed their final service project (three days of trail work with Glacier rangers), saw one bear (twice) and one moose, and rode out in stunning weather on the Going to the Sun Highway. They finally paid for all of their good weather luck with a day of rain today – which was too bad as they spent the day rafting the Flathead River. Jess said that, despite the rain, everyone had a great time – and that they were all now enjoying cozying up to a warm fire!

Nick, Maggie, and our unstoppable Coast to Coasters were making their way through a hot, hot Texas day when we heard from Nick earlier today. Despite the heat and the long miles, he relayed that everyone’s spirits remain high – and that with every mile, the prize comes just a bit closer. Tonight, they’ll be enjoying an air-conditioned church fellowship hall in Paris, Texas, before pushing on for the many delights of Whitesboro, Texas!

Note to parents of recently completed trips: we'd love to post some of your child's pictures if you care to send them to us. Please email me with any pics at chad@apogeeadventures.com. Thanks!

Till tomorrow ~ Chad
