Day Twenty Four, Abreevs No More

By: Annika Nygren

Day 24: After an exciting day visiting the CQ trips, I am back in the office and excited to captain the blog ship! My apologies for the abreevs post before, my hip lingo was obviously a little rusty and sore. I am no poet, my basic rhymes for you all will show it. BUT I thought I might give it whirl and be a humanities major kind of girl! So many exciting things for us to explore today… lets get going, hip hip hooray!

Cape Cod and the Islands (CI): Emily and Will’s group crushed their last day on the saddle, explored Provincetown for a little bit before hopping on a boat that they didn’t have to paddle! Leaving behind rides and high tides, these rockstars are going to take Boston in stride!

On the ferry looking oh so merry!

New England Mountains and Coast (NEMC): Matt and Midge’s “raftkers” (rafting hikers) (and soon to be rayakers- rafters, hikers and kayakers) were in our neck of the woods today (Brunswick, ME), and made a stop to fill up some water bottles, grab the mail before they went off on their way! It was so exciting to see this crew before their service project, their help in the community garden will leave a lasting positive effect!

Vermont to Montreal (VM): Kayaking!! Today Abby and Reuben’s troop traded their bikes for boats to borrow, and are then preparing to cross the border tomorrow! The water was clean, clear and cool… the team really came together to crush kayaking school!

California Mountains and Coast (CMC): These lucky ducklings will be calling Yosemite National Park their home for the next couple of nights, Emma and Dylan are preparing them for the back country where they’re hoping to see some Northern Lights! These leaders are pros and will show the group the way; they will be in the woods and out of touch for the next few days.

These five ladies chose to stay in one tent last night, leaders reported a lack of pillow fights.

Caribbean Service Adventure (CSA): Lucy and Will sent us some pictures from their group hike yesterday, the summit took them to look over the bay.  And then more beach cleanup service on the docket for today!Screen Shot 2014-07-19 at 12.31.02 PM

Going up!

Nutella is a hiking must, especially when on one’s face there’s no need to fuss.

Coast to Quebec (CQA): Quintessential coastal Maine views on today’s route! Lots of grapes and fruit eaten at lunch… with slack jaw contests and constant games, this group is a mighty fine bunch! (pun unintended)

IMG_7363ALL the boys and some gear! Finally! The gang’s all here.

Coast to Quebec (CQB): Onto my favorite spot in Maine for Pete and Sherry’s crowd! After burritos for dinner last night, they’ll be enjoying an evening and sunset by the Pemaquid lighthouse…making me proud. Surprise ice-cream treat by the sea, sounds pretty sweet, wouldn’t you agree?IMG951219

Yes folks that is a wedding going on in the back left…

Maine’s Downeast Explorer (DEX): Erin and Marino’s group spiced things up and hopped into boats (technically kayaks), switching their climbing skills into ones to keep them afloat. After time on the H20, they picked up trash on the beach because that stuff had to go! Apologies for this picture being a little blurry, they must have been in a hurry (to start their service work!).IMG_4928

Europe Coast to Coast (ECCA): Beautiful ride into Lindau, Germany today! Potential schnitzel on the menu and avoiding tourists in the venue. Mia and Jeremy report a back log of photos, we hope for them to come in tomorrow to add to our beautiful portfolio.

Europe Coast to Coast (ECCB): Challenging, hilly ride today for Nick and Christine’s dream team, reaching the top of some big hills gave them all the right to scream (in joy of their accomplishments!) While Europe is a beautiful place, it does not often provide a nice virtual wifi space. We appreciate your patience mom and dad, we will have soon have photos from these ladies and lads!

America Coast to Coast (ACC1): We have entered into the wild wild west folks! Seeyah Texas and Hello New Mexico, look at all the places Laura and Josh’s group have, and will, go! After conquering the Lone Star State, these riders are continuing to crush miles at an intense rate.

Mini-cart… hope it could fit all they needed for some lunchtime culinary art!

America Coast to Coast (ACC2): “Woahhhh we’re halfway there! Woahhhh livin’ on a pair!” (get it? Because they’re on two wheels?… sorry, I know I’m pushing it with that one) Almost all the way through Texas, these guys made it all the way into camp without help from support dude Tim in his Lexus (well… a car just like it…). New Mexico where the skies are so blue, Sam and Ally’s group is coming for you!

Aw! Did you guys coordinate to match with the Lays chip truck?!  Or was that just a stroke of luck?

Another Saturday down in Apogee land, where blog pics are always high in demand. I hope I did not bore you with my corny rhymes, this blog post took a significantly longer amount of time! Now it is time for all of us to go and rest, Sunday blog posts are often some of our best! Until then, I wish you all well; our trips are all having great fun, it makes my heart swell.
