APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Apogee begins accepting applications in October. MANY TRIP DEPARTURES WILL BE FULL BY THE END OF FEBRUARY. To apply, complete the application located on the previous page and mail it along with a $795 deposit to: Apogee Adventures, PO Box 505, Brunswick, ME 04011. Apogee will attempt to notify applicants of their acceptance status within two weeks of receiving the application. However, this process could take longer if we have difficulty contacting references.

PAYMENTS, REFUNDS, AND WITHDRAWALS
A deposit of $795 must be included with the completed application. A full refund will be made if you are not accepted. Accepted candidates must pay the balance of their tuition on or before April 1st. If application is made after April 1st, the application must be accompanied by full payment. For withdrawals prior to April 1st, $300 of the $795 deposit is refundable. Notice of withdrawal must be made in writing prior to April 1st. Apogee will make no refunds (except as stated as below) for any reason whatsoever, including accident or illness before or during the trip. Should a student leave a trip after it begins for any reason, there are no refunds, and the parent(s)/guardian(s) are responsible for any costs incurred by Apogee as a result of the departure, including but not limited to additional supervisory and transportation costs. To insure yourself against unforeseen circumstances or emergencies, we strongly urge families to purchase trip insurance; a sample policy will be provided upon enrollment.

Apogee reserves the right to cancel a trip for any reason prior to its start. In the unlikely event that this occurs, Apogee will do its best to place the student on another trip of the family's choice or refund all funds paid by the parent(s)/guardian(s). In the event it becomes necessary to terminate a trip in progress, Apogee will refund the cost of the trip to the parent(s)/guardian(s) on a daily-prorated basis.

Apogee's goal is to follow the itineraries described in this catalog as closely as possible. However, trip itineraries can change without notice due to poor weather, routing issues, mechanical difficulties, or unforeseen problems.

EXPECTATIONS
Students who join an Apogee trip are expected to be positive, motivated, flexible, and cooperative. Apogee reserves the right to terminate the participation of any applicant who becomes a hazard to the safety of others, refuses to cooperate, commits an unlawful act, becomes a disciplinary problem, or does not abide by Apogee's rules and regulations. No applicant may possess or use alcohol, tobacco products, or illegal drugs. Students found doing so will be immediately dismissed without a refund. Parent(s)/guardian(s) agree to reimburse Apogee for all costs incurred as a result of the dismissal and return of the applicant.

UPON ACCEPTANCE
Upon acceptance, each applicant will receive general trip information, an equipment and clothing list, a schedule of pre-trip preparation and training, travel information, standard liability release forms, and a medical authorization form. The medical authorization form must be completed and signed by a licensed physician showing the student is in good physical and mental health.

MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION
All participants must be covered by medical insurance. In the event medical assistance is required during a trip, Apogee staff will administer first aid to the student in need and contact medical and emergency professionals. Apogee will endeavor to notify parent(s) or guardian(s) of the situation at the first available opportunity. All medical costs incurred for treatment of the illness or injury will be the responsibility of the parent(s)/guardian(s), and parent(s)/guardian(s) agree to indemnify and hold Apogee harmless for any such cost.

EQUIPMENT & WHAT IS INCLUDED
While on trip, all meal, accommodation, transportation, activity costs, and bicycle shipping costs from the trip end location (ACC, MSA & PC only) are covered by the tuition. Airfare and costs associated with transporting or shipping a bicycle to trip start locations are NOT included. Apogee will provide all group gear such as tents, stoves, and group cooking utensils. Applicants must bring personal gear such as bicycles, backpacks, sleeping bags, and hiking boots. An equipment and clothing list that describes what and how much to bring will be made available to participating students upon acceptance. A limited number of bicycles (for New England and Pacific Coast trips only) and panniers (saddlebags) are available for rent. Please call our office to inquire about availability.
